In 1988 Dr. Joseph completed her undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, at Miami University . She then studied dentistry at The Ohio State University graduating in 1992 with the degree od Doctor of Dental Surgery. In 1992 she joined the United States Public Health Service/Indian Health Service interning at the Reno/Sparks Tribal Health Center. She then was stationed in a rural village in the interior of Alaska , Fort Yukon , AK . She traveled to remote villages in small aircraft providing care to the Alaskan native community. Then in 1995 she moved to Truckee , CA where she practices all phases of dentistry today.

Dr. Joseph is married to Chip Messner, a General Contractor in the Lake Tahoe/Truckee area. They have a son and daughter, and enjoy many outdoor recreational activities.
